I have been asked a number of times by my teammates about how to clean smelly, sweaty batting gloves. There is no need to replace your favorite $30.00 batting gloves just because they are dirty and stinky. Here is the best way I have found to clean them without compromising the fabric or destroying the leather.

You can purchase a detergent that is designed specifically for cleaning leather either online or at an Auto Parts store locally. Here is a good one on the internet at Preservation Solutions , a pint for about $12.95.  That quantity will last you a life time and you can use it around the house to clean other leather items like sofas, chairs, car seats or even shoes.

This detergent contains special softening agents to prevent your leather batting gloves from drying stiff as cardboard after you wash them. You can also use this product to bring new life to your old hard leather batting gloves form last year.

The best way to use the product to clean your baseball batting gloves is to mix the leather detergent with water and the gloves can be soaked directly in the solution for an about an hour. After that just rinse off and let them dry in the sun.
